Hello, my name is Tamara Filas. It was my dream to be a full-time Art teacher, but I have had to accept that this dream will never be realized, as explained on the home page. I was fortunate to be able to live my dream in 2003-2004, the school year in which I created the Discipline-Based Art Education plans that I share on this website. It brings me great joy and happiness to freely share the plans I created that year, knowing I am still helping to enlighten children around the globe by introducing them to different media, educating them about the principles of design, infusing different disciplines into the art curriculum, and providing a foundation for successful self-expression in the visual arts. Current Art teachers, please enjoy the following lesson plans to use in your classroom. Note that while they are separated into levels 1, 2 and 3, these plans do not have to be implemented in any particular order. The lessons are simply presented in the order in which I taught them to my students. Not all lessons of each unit are present on these pages. My lessons also sometimes accompanied reading material found in the textbook, Art Talk, by Rosalind Ragans. Click on each link to view or edit the Microsoft Word documents. Some documents are in jpeg format because parts were created by hand. You can see larger views of the student artwork by clicking on each thumbnail.
